Ms. Bhagirathi Bhattarai Gyawali holds Master’s degrees in Economics and Public Administration from Tribhuvan University and a Bachelor's degree in Education from Nepal Sanskrit University. She served as a Member of the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) during its first term, from Baisakh 2076 to Baisakh 2081 (April 2019 to April 2024). She also served as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of Global IME Bank Limited from Asar 2081 to Falgun 2081 (July 2024 to February 2025).
Ms. Gyawali brings with her four years of experience as a member of the Water Tariff Fixation Commission. She also has 17 years of experience in academia, teaching in various colleges. Additionally, she served for nine years as the Chairperson of the Seshan Cooperative Institution. She is actively involved with various social and literary organizations.
An accomplished writer, Ms. Gyawali has published two literary works titled Matribatha and Satisal. She frequently contributes economic and literary articles to various newspapers and journals. She is a life member of several organizations including the Sahitya Vigyan Pratishthan, Dadhiram Memorial Foundation, Thorga Kathmandu Contact and Development Forum, Economics Teachers Society, Gulmeli Society, Gyawali Guthi, and Civil Servants’ Wives Association. She continues to dedicate herself to literature and social service.
Ms. Gyawali has also participated in various international seminars and conferences, including the “Seminar on Small Hydropower and Sustainable Development of Rural Communities” (held in Hangzhou, China from September 5 to 25, 2019, organized by the National Research Institute for Rural Electrification - NRIRE), the Fourth SAARC Regulators Meeting in Thimphu, Bhutan, and the “International Conference on Climate Change, Water Resources, and Disasters” organized by UNESCO. She has also participated in several environmental and academic training programs. Her international visits include the United States, South Korea, Singapore, Bhutan, China, and Malaysia.
